In January 2024, Elon Musk confirmed that calling functionality would be expanded to all users, regardless of contract. And now, the company is rolling out the same service for everyone in phases. X’s calling feature is located within the messages section and allows users to control who can call them through this feature, which acts as an additional layer of privacy.
By default, calling functionality is limited to followers and can be set for authenticated users or everyone. Additionally, you also have the option to enable “Advanced Call Privacy” to hide your IP address. You must send at least one message before you can initiate a call with a user.
